UNION FOR
REFORM JUDAISM SOUTHEAST COUNCIL REGIONAL
BIENNIAL
This is
an exciting year for us here at Mickve Israel. Not only
are we celebrating our 275th Anniversary and the
anniversary of Judaism in the South, but we have been
honored to be chosen to be the host congregation for the
Union for Reform Judaism Southeast Council Regional
Biennial, November 20-23, 2008.
Between
500 and 600 participants from throughout our Region will
be coming to the Hyatt Hotel. The Southeast Region is
the largest Region in the URJ and consists of about 100
congregations from Alabama, the Bahamas, Florida,
Georgia, South Carolina and
Chattanooga, Tennessee.
In
April, many of you attended an initial planning
meeting for the Biennial during which time Rabbi Linda
Joseph, the Director of the Southeast Council, outlined
for us the role of the Local Arrangements Committee.
There is still time to become involved in this exciting
event; just
